After three years of painstaking research on web social communities,we have now entered a new phase:

We have designed and coded a new library, called the Social Hypergraph Library™(SHL) , which implements our data structures for modeling social web life. SHL extends conventional social graphs, by adding new hypernodes and hyperedges representing interests, common goals, and other factors of social aggregation. This library is totally agnostic as far as the type of social network it models goes. SHL comes equipped with new algorithms for clustering people around areas of shared interests, and also it contains new metrics to assess the distance of individuals and groups in the extended social graph, as well as to navigate efficiently in the tangled social web.

A new web social application based on SHL, MergingPot™ , is now in its Alpha 1.0 Release. MergingPot™ will help people find each other, merge into newly discovered interest communities, and ultimately help creating a real society out of the fragmented social web. Keep an eye on MergingPot's blog and MergingPot's Twitter Page If You have a FaceBook Account, join the FB Group MergingPot

Another application based on SHL is Tweeteretica™, a tool that enables users to follow tweets on Twitter on the basis of specific interests. Tweeteretica goes well beyond the Twitter Search Api, because it uses semantical disambiguation to determine relevant tweets, not just keywords. Once you have specified your parameters, Tweeteretica selects carefully tweets in the twittersphere, summarizes them, and ships them to you via RSS feeds. Twitteretica also suggests other twitterers who tweets on the topics of your choice.
Tweeteretica's Mantra is: Follow topics, not noise!
